Job Description

  • Teaching pre-teens and teens in Beijing

The Job

At Houhai you’ll be teaching young learners at our modern language schools located around Beijing.  We hope you can create and develop a fun, positive, and challenging learning atmosphere to help students cultivate skill in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.  Our class sizes include no more than fifteen students to allow for both a good amount of classroom interaction and smooth classroom management.  Our curriculum is built around textbooks from National Geographic Learning, so they’re filled with captivating pictures, fascinating articles, and stories of exploration and adventure.  ​

Main Responsibilities
  • Maximum of 60 hours a month - 15 work hours per week (no office hours) 

  • Additional classes and responsibilities are available for additional compensation

  • Class size: maximum of 15 students per class

  • Student age: 7 – 16 year olds

  • Plan lessons and classroom activities

  • Two days off per week

  • Assist in school’s promotional events

  • Attend staff meetings and teacher training

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • TESOL/TEFL certificate 120 hours plus preferred

  • Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa

  • 1 year of relevant teaching experience preferred

  • Clean criminal record check

  • Professional, positive, and culturally aware

  • Energetic, friendly, and hard-working
